Terms of use and privacy policy
Last updated: 8 November 2026
Please read these terms carefully. By installing or using Antidote you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not install or use Antidote.
Terms of use
1. WHAT ANTIDOTE IS
1.1 Antidote ("Antidote", "we", "us") is a free, non-profit, community project that keeps the Legacy version of the game Deceit playable. It is run by volunteers.
1.2 Antidote is not affiliated with, endorsed by or supported by World Makers Limited, Baseline Games or Valve. "Deceit" and the related names, logos and content belong to their respective owners. Valve and Steam are trademarks of Valve Corporation.
2. WHO CAN USE ANTIDOTE
2.1 You need your own Steam account, in good standing, with Deceit in its library. The game files are downloaded by your own Steam client, from Steam. You must not use copies of the game obtained in any other way.
2.2 You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to use Steam and Deceit where you live. If you are under the age of majority in your country, a parent or legal guardian must agree to these terms for you.
2.3 You are responsible for everything done with your account. Never share your Steam password with anyone: we will never ask for it.
3. FREE OF CHARGE, NOTHING IS SOLD
3.1 Antidote is free. Nothing in Antidote is sold for real money. Anyone asking you to pay for access to Antidote does not represent us.
3.2 Credits, Stubs, tokens, cosmetics, levels and every other item or value in Antidote have no monetary value. They cannot be sold, bought or traded for real money or anything else outside the game. We may change, rebalance or reset them.
3.3 You may not sell Antidote, or charge others for access to it.
4. RULES OF CONDUCT
You agree not to:
- cheat, use exploits, or use modified versions of the game, of Antidote or of its programs to gain an advantage or to send false information to our servers;
- attack, overload, probe or disrupt our servers, the networks we use, or the PCs of other players;
- try to access accounts, data or services you are not allowed to access;
- harass, threaten, insult or discriminate against other players, or share illegal, hateful or sexual content;
- impersonate a member of the Antidote team.
Please report bugs and exploits to us (in game with Ctrl+Shift+F9, or on our Discord) instead of using them.
5. MODERATION
5.1 We may warn, suspend or permanently ban an account (identified by its SteamID) that breaks these terms, and remove or correct items or progress obtained by breaking them.
5.2 You can contest a decision on our Discord. We will look at it in good faith.
6. WHAT ANTIDOTE DOES ON YOUR PC
6.1 Antidote changes the game in memory while it runs; it does not modify the original game files downloaded by Steam. It installs its own files next to the game.
6.2 Antidote updates itself automatically when the game starts.
6.3 While the game runs, a background program of Antidote connects your game to our server and to other players through the Steam networking relays. Your PC may also run the game server of a match you play in, which uses some processor time and bandwidth while the match lasts.
6.4 The first time you log in (and, if it fails, at a later login), your PC connects once to the servers of Deceit Live to read your own Deceit Live profile, as described in Part 2, section 3.
6.5 If some Deceit Live files Antidote needs are missing, Antidote can build them from the Deceit Live version installed by your Steam, or ask your Steam to download it. It always asks you first.
6.6 The setup removes what older versions of Antidote and Legacy Project left on your PC, in the Deceit folder of your Steam and in the folders where they were installed (their files, not the game itself, and the launch option they set for Deceit in Steam, for which Steam is closed and started again), so that Deceit Live starts normally again. Your settings found there are kept in your new installation. These older versions no longer work and must not stay on your PC. Nothing else of the game or of Steam is changed.
7. NO WARRANTY
Antidote is an experimental project provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that it will work, that it will be free of bugs, or that our servers will be available. We may change, suspend or stop Antidote, in whole or in part, at any time.
8. LIABILITY
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Antidote team is not liable for any damage resulting from the use of Antidote or from the impossibility of using it. Nothing in these terms limits a liability, or removes a right you have as a consumer, that cannot be limited or removed by law.
9. STOPPING
You can stop using Antidote at any time by uninstalling it, and ask us to delete your data (Part 2, section 7). We may stop providing Antidote to you if you break these terms.
10. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these terms. The current version is shown by the Antidote setup and on www.playantidote.net/legal, and important changes are announced on our Discord. If you do not agree with a new version, stop using Antidote.

Privacy policy
1. WHO WE ARE
The Antidote team, a free and non-commercial volunteer project, runs the Antidote server and decides how the data below is used (data controller). Contact for anything about your data: privacy@playantidote.net, or our Discord (dsc.gg/playantidote).
2. WHAT WE COLLECT AND WHY
2.1 Your Steam account
- Your SteamID (the public number of your Steam account), checked with Steam at each login. To check it, the game makes a Steam login ticket for Antidote, which our server sends to Steam once; the ticket is never stored.
- Your Steam display name, read from your public Steam profile when your Antidote profile is created.
- The Steam app ID the game runs under (sent with the login ticket, not stored).
Why: to know who you are, to keep your profile and to apply bans.
2.2 Your Antidote profile and game activity
- In-game name, emblem, character, level, experience, prestige, reputation, ranked rank, marks and Elo, lifetime statistics, unlocked cosmetics, loadouts, perks, credits, Stubs and tokens, daily challenges, notifications, friends and friend requests, party.
- History of your matches (date, side, character, result, experience, rank changes) and of the items you got from the loot booth.
- For each match, a short report of what your game and the match server sent about the result (kept 3 days, to check results).
Why: to provide the game (profiles, progression, matchmaking, rankings, friends) and to detect cheating.
2.3 Data imported from Deceit Live (once per account)
To give you back what you have in Deceit Live:
- your own PC connects once to the Deceit Live servers (run by Baseline Games) with the Steam ticket of your game's login, reads your Deceit Live profile (unlocked cosmetics, GM credits, emblem) and sends it to our server. This ticket is used only for this and is never stored by us;
- our server reads your public history from the public Deceit API (live.deceit.gg): name, emblem, character, loadouts, level, experience, prestige, reputation, banner and lifetime statistics.
Ranked rank, marks and Elo are never imported. The import is done once per account (tried again at a later login if it fails). If you do not want it, contact us before your first login, or ask us afterwards to remove what was imported.
Why: so that you keep the progress and items you earned in Deceit.
2.4 Technical data
- IP address: seen by our server while you are connected, only to protect it against abuse (limits on connections per address). It is not stored; server logs only show it partly masked.
- Server logs: technical events of your connections and matches (SteamID, in-game name, errors). They are kept 30 days at most, then deleted automatically.
Why: to keep the service running and secure, and to fix problems.
2.5 Bug and crash reports
When you press Ctrl+Shift+F9 in the game, or after the game crashed, a report is sent to our server: your Steam name and SteamID, the version of Antidote, the language of the game, the current level, the length of the session, and the log files of the game and of Antidote for that session. The log of a match server run by your PC is also sent at the end of the match. We keep the last 3 reports and the last 10 match server logs of each account, and none of them more than 30 days.
Why: to find and fix bugs.
2.6 What stays on your PC
Antidote keeps its settings and log files on your PC (log files are deleted after 14 days). They are only sent to us in a report (section 2.5).
We do not collect your Steam password, your email address, payment data, or anything from your PC outside of the game and Antidote. We do not use advertising, tracking or analytics services.
3. LEGAL BASIS (for players in the European Union and similar countries)
- Providing the game you asked for, under these terms (sections 2.1, 2.2, 2.3): performance of a contract.
- Security, anti-cheat, bug fixing and the import of your Deceit Live data (sections 2.3, 2.4, 2.5): our legitimate interests in running a fair and working game and in giving you back your Deceit progress. You can object to it (section 7).
- Keeping your progression if Antidote stops (section 6.3): our legitimate interest in giving it back to you if Antidote opens again. You can object to it (section 7).
- The technical data of the visitors of our website (see "This website" on www.playantidote.net/legal): our legitimate interest in delivering the site and protecting it against attacks.
4. WHAT IS PUBLIC
Your in-game name, emblem, level, rank, reputation, statistics, leaderboard positions, equipped items, perks and match history can be seen by other players in the game, and through the "Game Master" bot on the Antidote Discord server (which can look a player up by Antidote id or SteamID).
5. WHO ELSE RECEIVES DATA
We never sell your data. We use these services to run Antidote:
- Oracle Cloud (servers) and MongoDB Atlas (database), both in Paris, France (European Union);
- Cloudflare, which carries the connections to our server and protects it against attacks (it processes your IP address);
- Steam (Valve), which checks your login ticket and carries the connections between players;
- Google Drive (Google), from which the setup and the game download the files of Antidote and its updates (it receives your IP address);
- Deceit Live (Baseline Games), which your own PC contacts once for the import (section 2.3);
- Discord, for the "Game Master" bot (section 4).
6. WHERE AND HOW LONG
6.1 Our data is stored in Paris, France (European Union).
6.2 Your profile and game history are kept as long as your account exists, until you ask us to delete them. Match result reports: 3 days. Bug reports: the last 3 per account, 30 days at most. Match server logs: the last 10 per account, 30 days at most. Server logs: 30 days at most.
6.3 If Antidote stops for good, we stop collecting data and delete what is no longer needed (server logs, bug reports, match result reports). We keep the profiles and progression of players for at most 3 years, only so that they can be given back if Antidote opens again, and use them for nothing else. Before that, Steam display names are deleted and each SteamID is replaced by a one-way code that only lets us recognise your account if you log in again after a reopening. You can still ask us to delete your data at any time (section 7). After 3 years without a reopening, everything is deleted.
6.4 Cloudflare, Google, Discord and Valve are companies based in the United States or with offices there, so your data can be processed outside the European Union by them. These transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for the companies certified under it, or on the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission, as described in their own privacy policies.
7. YOUR RIGHTS
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data, to receive a copy of it, to restrict its use, or object to it. Contact us at privacy@playantidote.net or on Discord (dsc.gg/playantidote); we may ask you to prove that the Steam account is yours. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
8. SECURITY
Connections between Antidote and our server are encrypted. Access to the database is limited to our server and, read-only, to our Discord bot. If a data breach occurs, we will notify the affected players and the relevant authorities where required by law, directly where reasonably possible (in the game or by the means you used to contact us), and on our Discord.
9. CHILDREN
Antidote is not meant for children under 13.
10. CHANGES
We may update this policy. The current version is shown by the Antidote setup and on www.playantidote.net/legal, and important changes are announced on our Discord.
This website
This part is about the website www.playantidote.net only.
- The site is hosted by Cloudflare (Cloudflare Workers), which receives your IP address to deliver the pages and to protect the site against attacks.
- The site itself sets no cookie and uses no account, no analytics and no advertising.
- The font of the site (Outfit, SIL Open Font License) and the Antidote logo are hosted on the site itself.
- The pictures of the game are not hosted here: the screenshots are shown from the game's Steam store page (Valve, through its content delivery network), the map pictures from the Deceit wiki (Fandom). Your browser downloads them from these services, which receive your IP address and the usual technical data of your browser; the address of our page is not sent to them. Their own privacy policies apply.
- The videos are YouTube videos. Their thumbnails are shown from YouTube's image server (i.ytimg.com), which receives your IP address when the page is shown. The video itself is loaded only when you press play: it is then played by YouTube (Google) in its privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which may also store data in your browser, under YouTube's own privacy policy.
- The Discord links (dsc.gg) lead to Discord, outside this site.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in delivering the site and protecting it against attacks. Cloudflare, Valve, Fandom and Google are based in the United States or have offices there: the data they receive can be processed outside the European Union, under the safeguards described in their own privacy policies (EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses).
